Automotive Production
Alabama is ranked in the Top 5 for automotive production in the nation. This achievement underscores Alabama's investment in the automotive industry and puts a spotlight on its growing production of electric vehicles.

Supply Chain & Supportive Infrastructure
Alabama's expanding list of automotive suppliers and supportive infrastructure provide automotive manufacturers with an ideal ecosystem. More than 200 Tier 1 and 2 automotive suppliers have chosen to call Alabama home. Soon, the state will welcome the first-of-its kind graphite processing plant. The plant will give our state's automotive industry access to raw battery materials. In addition, global trade has never been more accessible now that Alabama has the AutoMobile International Terminal ("storage capacity for 7,000 vehicles and power to move 150,000 vehicle units per year" (see link)). The Terminal is a cost-effective port for vehicle imports and exports with unsurpassed maritime and railroad connectivity.
Electric Vehicles
Electric vehicle supplies and production are ramping up in Alabama. Mercedes-Benz is completing a new battery plant in the state. This initiative will supply the company with high-voltage, plug-in batteries for the new generation of EQ vehicles. The $1 billion investment in the plant and its nearby manufacturing facility will advance the production of electric cars, trucks and SUVs in the state. Mercedes-Benz and Hyundai have already announced plans to begin production of electric vehicles in their Alabama plants. Other automotive manufacturers with plants based in the state are expected to start producing electric cars in the near future.
