Blair King
Director, Business & Innovation Development
Blair joined Alabama Power Company in 2009 as an economic development representative, where over the years he has been instrumental in attracting and expanding major employers to the state, including Shipt, Yorozu, Gerhardi, Golden State Foods, and most recently Novelis Corporation.
He now leads Alabama Power's Economic and Community Development Business and Innovation Development teams, overseeing lead generation, project management, and Innovation efforts to recruit and expand companies across Alabama. Blair is instrumental in guiding Alabama Power's managing external relations and coordinating with regional and national partners to advance development opportunities.
Prior to joining Alabama Power, Blair served as a Financial Incentives Specialist with Operation New Birmingham (now REV Birmingham), an organization focused on the revitalization and growth of downtown Birmingham.
Deeply engaged in the local community through his membership of The Kiwanis of Birmingham. Blair's work has earned recognition throughout his career. He was honored as a Birmingham Business Journal "Top 40 Under 40" in 2017, named among Consultant Connect's "Top 50 Economic Developers in North America" in 2016, and recognized as the Economic Development Association's "Young Professional of the Year" in 2014. A Birmingham native, Blair grew up in Vestavia, AL, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management from Auburn University.
I enjoy being a part of the state's economic development. It involves creativity, competition, teamwork and ultimately helping to positively affect the opportunity and quality of life in Alabama.
