Tonya specializes in strategic analytics and brings a wealth of knowledge to Alabama Power’s Economic and Community Development organization. She applies her education and experience to conduct research and analysis that provides valuable insights on properties within the state slated for industrial use.
Utilizing custom GIS software applications, she identifies the best industrial sites the state has to offer and provides the site data to the Economic Development project management team. She also performs the match-making process of getting good communities in touch with good grants by researching both public and private community grant funding.
Prior to joining the Alabama Power Economic Development team in January 2019, Tonya used financial analysis, regulatory reports and other supplemental data to assist the quarterly FERC filing process in the Financial and Contract Services department at Southern Company Services in Birmingham, AL. Additionally, she optimized processes by developing automation tools for analyses and reporting purposes.
Tonya graduated from The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Collat School of Business. She and her husband, Bernard, have two sons, Jeremiah and Noah. In her spare time, she and her family enjoy traveling, going to major league baseball games, playing basketball and attending the Church of the Highlands.
“My role is very rewarding as I get to see firsthand how the site data and grant research I provide helps improve communities and in turn attracts business to them. The end goal is to see that Alabama communities are prepared for economic growth.”
